Gone since June 2025. General Mills answered the complaints by pointing fans toward Frosted Lemon Cheerios, which is a different thing entirely. Plain Chocolate Cheerios survived the cut; the peanut butter one did not.
The box said Limited Edition, which proved wrong by about eight years. When it finally went, a cereal fan spotted the hole in the shelf first, and the company took about two weeks to confirm it.
🧾 One more thingChocolate-peanut-butter cereal was a $500 million-a-year business that General Mills had left entirely to Reese's Puffs. This box, arriving in October 2017, was the company's move to take a share of it back.
