Satisfries
by Burger King
Gone — Burger King made Satisfries optional in August 2014, less than a year after launch, and the two-thirds of franchises that dropped them were the majority verdict. They faded from the holdouts too, and the chain has never brought them back.
Burger King's attempt to sell guilt-free fast food: a crinkle-cut fry engineered to drink less oil, with about 20% fewer calories than the regular ones and a name that did it no favors. It lasted eleven months.
🧾 One more thingThe batter was the entire innovation — a coating that soaked up less oil in the fryer — but Satisfries cost roughly 30 cents more than the standard fries and never explained themselves on the menu board. When Burger King stopped requiring them in August 2014, only about 2,500 of some 7,400 US and Canadian restaurants chose to keep them.
