Mars Bar (American)
by Mars
Limited. The mass-market American Mars Bar has been gone since 2002 apart from that brief 2010–11 Walmart run; the only version you can reliably buy today is Ethel M's small-batch reissue. If you want a Mars bar off an ordinary shelf, you want the British one — a different candy bar wearing the same name.
Not the British one: the American Mars Bar was vanilla nougat and whole toasted almonds under milk chocolate, a fixture since 1936. Mars retired it in 2002 and handed the job to Snickers Almond, which is not the same bar and everyone involved knows it.
🧾 One more thingIt keeps clawing its way back and never quite sticks — a 2010 relaunch sold only at Walmart lasted until the end of 2011, and in 2016 Mars's own boutique arm, Ethel M, reissued the original caramel-free recipe at gourmet-chocolate prices. Confusing everything, the entirely different British Mars bar (caramel, no almonds) is still sold worldwide, which is why half the internet insists it never died at all.
