1956 – 2018 IT CAME BACK

Back since 2025 under new ownership — reformulated without the old Retsyn trans fat, and rolling out again mint by mint.

The little foil-wrapped disc that settled a national argument — breath mint or candy mint? — by insisting, smugly, that it was both. From 1956 it was a fixture of every glovebox, purse, and church pew, until it quietly disappeared in 2018.

🧾 One more thingCerts’ secret weapon was ‘Retsyn,’ a proprietary blend built partly on partially hydrogenated cottonseed oil — so when the FDA banned that class of trans fats in 2018, the recipe’s days were numbered. A new owner reformulated and relaunched Certs in 2025, bringing the two-mints-in-one back minus its most infamous ingredient.
