1963 – 2004 IT CAME BACK

Back — Spangler discontinued Astro Pop in 2004, but Leaf Brands revived it (original shape and all) after 2010, and the rocket is on shelves again today.

A towering three-flavor lollipop shaped like a rocket's nose cone, dreamed up in 1963 by two engineers who'd actually worked on the space program. Spangler let it die in 2004 — right after a fateful redesign flipped the rocket upside down.

🧾 One more thingThe candy's death was self-inflicted: to dodge a liability risk, Spangler moved the stick from the wide base to the pointed tip, and the topsy-turvy rocket flopped so hard it dragged the whole product down with it. A tech headhunter named Ellia Kassoff bought the dead brand in 2010, restored the original right-side-up shape, and it still ships under Leaf Brands today.
