1991 – 1995 GONE FOREVER

Yes — the fruity flavors died in 1995 and the last soda flavors fizzled out by 1998. General Mills says it has no plans to bring them back, though a candy-revival company quietly staked a trademark claim in 2024.

Fruit snacks shaped like pop bottles in root beer, cherry cola, and orange soda, with a coating engineered to fizz on your tongue. For a stretch of the 90s, drinking your candy was simply the law.

🧾 One more thingThe fizz was a chemistry trick General Mills is still proud of — a special coating that mimicked carbonation — and 1992 even brought official 7UP co-branded boxes. In 2024, two companies raced to claim the long-dead trademark two weeks apart; one filing landed exactly 33 years to the day after the original.
