Snickers Charged
by Mars
Gone — a planned limited edition sold through March 2008 to gauge interest, and Mars never ordered a second round. A few accounts date it to 2007, when samples reportedly circulated at a trade show; the retail launch was January 2008.
A regular Snickers with a cup of coffee's worth of caffeine in the nougat, plus taurine and B vitamins, sold under a charging rhino. Mars put it out as a limited run in January 2008 and let the charge run down that spring.
🧾 One more thingMars pushed a 2-to-3 p.m. "Re-Power Hour" and handed out about half a million bars at college basketball halftimes. A spokesman stressed the bar was meant for a mature audience, since Mars had pledged the year before not to market to children under 12.
