Ry-Krisp

by Ralston Purina
1904 – 2015 GONE FOREVER

Gone — production ended in March 2015 and the planned revival never shipped a box. Swedish immigrant Arvid Peterson named it in 1904; some histories start the clock at his rye crackers of 1899 or at the company's founding in 1913.

A dark, brittle rye crispbread from Minneapolis, round until 1929 and pitched for most of a century to dieters at about 25 calories a cracker. ConAgra, which inherited it, closed the plant in 2015, citing low demand.

🧾 One more thingFormer Pillsbury executives bought the name to revive it, then spent years in court over the old baking equipment. They won an $8.3 million jury verdict in 2019 and still gave up in May 2024, blaming the cost of the litigation and a lack of funds.
