Rice Krispies Treats Cereal
by Kellogg's
The original marshmallow-cluster cereal survived — increasingly hard to find — until mid-2019, when a reformulated stand-in took over its name; by 2020 even that was gone. A 33,000-signature petition hasn't moved Kellogg's.
The beloved treat reduced to spoon size: crisped-rice clusters glued together with buttery marshmallow, a full dessert cosplaying as breakfast. It never actually died in the 2000s — it just got so scarce that America assumed it had.
🧾 One more thingIn June 2019 Kellogg's quietly swapped in a different cereal under the same name — Frosted Rice Krispies with loose marshmallows — and fans who'd been buying five boxes a week caught the switch within days. The impostor itself was dead by 2020, confirmed in Kellogg's own apologetic tweets.
