Gone — Quake lost the vote in 1972 and has never been brought back, not once in more than fifty years. Quisp, the cereal that beat it, is somehow still on shelves today.
Quaker's other space-age sugar cereal: sweetened corn fronted by a hard-hatted miner who spent seven years losing an advertising war to a propeller-headed alien. In 1972 the company settled it by letting children vote on which of the two should be allowed to live.
🧾 One more thingQuisp and Quake launched together in 1965 as manufactured rivals, sharing commercials in which their mascots feuded over whose cereal was better. The 1972 election was the payoff: kids chose Quisp, Quake was pulled from shelves, and his mascot was recycled into an orange-flavored spin-off called Quangaroos that lost a second vote and disappeared in 1976.
