A Pepsi with a nitrogen widget in the can, meant to be poured hard into a glass like a stout for smaller bubbles and a foamy head. It took three years to reach shelves and lasted under three on them.

🧾 One more thingPepsi announced it in January 2019 and planned to start sampling at Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta, then went quiet; by July 2021 the company would only say "stay tuned." The widget is the same kind canned Guinness uses.

❓ People also ask

How were you supposed to drink Nitro Pepsi?

Cold and without ice, hard-poured into a tall glass so the nitrogen from the widget formed a foamy head, the way a nitro stout is served.

Is Nitro Pepsi discontinued?

Yes. Both the cola and vanilla versions were cut in early 2025, and PepsiCo confirmed in June 2025 that they were leaving store shelves.

Why did Nitro Pepsi take so long to come out?

PepsiCo never gave a reason. It was announced in January 2019, and in July 2021 the company still had no launch date; it finally shipped in March 2022.
