AISLE 4 · CANDY & GUM
Necco Wafers
by Necco
Necco Wafers was discontinued in 2018 — but it’s back on shelves today.
Chalky discs first made in 1847 — candy old enough to have been carried by Civil War soldiers. When the Necco factory abruptly shut down in 2018, they died with it.
🧾 One more thingSpangler bought the brand and revived the wafers in 2020, ending a two-year national argument over whether anyone actually liked them. (Verdict: yes, defensively.)
