Mr. Pibb

by Coca-Cola
1972 โ€“ 2001 IT CAME BACK

Back โ€” sort of. The Mr. Pibb name returned in October 2025 with a revamped, more-caffeinated formula, rolling out wider through 2026 (plus vanilla and peach spin-offs). It replaces Pibb Xtra, but purists note it isn't the exact pre-2001 recipe.

Coke's spicy answer to Dr Pepper spent three decades as the pepper soda you got when the restaurant didn't carry the real thing โ€” and millions loved it anyway. In 2001 Coca-Cola quietly killed the original, replacing it with a cinnamon-forward remix called Pibb Xtra, and the 'Mr.' vanished from shelves for 24 years.

๐Ÿงพ One more thingIt was born in 1972 as 'Peppo' and renamed Mr. Pibb within months because Dr Pepper sued. The 2025 resurrection was also lawyer-driven: a Texas court ruling ended Coca-Cola's role distributing Dr Pepper at fountains, so Coke needed its own pepper soda back on the marquee.
