AISLE 4 Β· CANDY & GUM
Mild and Mellow
by Hershey's
Gone. The Hershey Community Archives say production stopped at the end of 1941 as wartime rationing set in, and the bar was not reintroduced after the war. Its closest living relative is Symphony, a separate recipe introduced in 1989.
Hershey's answer to shoppers who found the classic bar a little sharp: a milkier, European-style chocolate, launched in 1934. It lasted until the war, when sugar rationing made Hershey trim the line, and it never came home.
π§Ύ One more thingHershey now calls it the ancestor of Symphony. When Symphony arrived in 1989 it was billed as a departure from Hershey's original milk-chocolate formula, though the company had already tried a milkier bar 55 years earlier.
