1961 – 2012 IT CAME BACK

Back since 2016, after roughly three and a half years away. McKee announced the return in late 2015 and rolled Funny Bones out across the Northeast; they remain in the Drake's lineup and on major grocery shelves today.

Devil's food cake wrapped around peanut butter creme and frosted in chocolate, and the one Drake's cake people from New Jersey will genuinely argue about. It went down with the Hostess liquidation in 2012 and then, uniquely, got left behind by its own rescue.

🧾 One more thingMcKee Foods bought Drake's out of liquidation for $27.5 million in April 2013 and had Devil Dogs, Ring Dings, Yodels and Coffee Cakes back on shelves by that September — everything except Funny Bones, whose peanut butter filling needed a dedicated allergen-safe line nobody wanted to build. Fans opened a Facebook campaign demanding them back, and it worked.
