1977 – 2012 RARE REVIVALS

Chocodiles died with Hostess in 2012, returned twice (fun-size in 2014, full-size as 'Fudge Covered Twinkies' in 2017), then quietly vanished again — today's Hostess lineup doesn't include them.

A Twinkie in a fudge jacket, fronted by a crocodile named Chauncey and famously near-impossible to find east of the Rockies. Desperate exiles once paid seventeen dollars to have a single cake shipped.

🧾 One more thingThe 'West Coast legend' actually launched in New York and Denver in 1977 — it retreated west only because the fudge coating couldn't survive long-haul shipping. The 2014 comeback shrank it to fun-size; the 2017 full-size return hid under the name 'Fudge Covered Twinkies.'
