Yes — but not when you think. Body Buddies was quietly discontinued around 1997, a full decade after its advertising stopped, which is why nearly every memory (and listicle) misdates its death to the 1980s.
General Mills' attempt to sell fitness to children: Kix-like puffs in Brown Sugar & Honey or Natural Fruit Flavor, fronted by four sporty cartoon kids and 16 vitamins. Everyone remembers it dying in the 80s — it actually outlived its own fame by a decade.
🧾 One more thingThe ad budget dried up around 1981, which is why memories bury it in the 80s, but the paper trail disagrees: a 1995 class-action notice lists it as sold in 1993–94, and General Mills' own Box Tops site still carried it for the 1996–97 school year. A trademark filing even reveals a quiet test market as early as October 1976.
