Steamfresh Meals for Two

by Birds Eye
2008 – 2010 GONE FOREVER

Gone. Pinnacle Foods announced in November 2010 that it would stop making Birds Eye Steamfresh frozen meals, and its annual report confirms it exited the business that year. Steamfresh vegetables and sauced sides are still sold, now by Conagra, but the two-person entrΓ©es never returned.

Birds Eye took the steam-in-the-bag trick that made its vegetables a hit and built two-portion dinners around it in 2008, pitched at empty nesters and couples without kids. Two years later a new owner turned off the steam.

🧾 One more thingThe meals died in the same 2010 decision that ended Swanson frozen dinners in the US. Pinnacle Foods, which had bought Birds Eye less than a year earlier, kept the Steamfresh vegetables, which were still growing.
