Big N' Tasty

by McDonald's
1997 – 2011 GONE FOREVER

Gone from American menus since New Year's Day 2011, with no revival announced. The larger "Big Tasty" is still sold in parts of Europe and the Middle East, so the name lives on abroad; at home the nearest approximation is a Quarter Pounder ordered with lettuce, tomato and mayo.

McDonald's answer to the Whopper: a quarter-pound patty dressed with lettuce, tomato and slivered onion so it would look like something from a proper burger joint. For a while it was the classiest thing on the Dollar Menu.

🧾 One more thingIt was tested in California in 1997 against a rival prototype called the Big Xtra, went national in 2000, and came off US menus on January 1, 2011 β€” the same stretch in which McDonald's decided its dollar pricing was doing more harm than good.
