Aspen
by PepsiCo
Gone — discontinued in 1982 after four years, and PepsiCo has never revived the name. The apple soda itself carried on as a Slice flavor from 1984.
PepsiCo's apple soda for grown-ups: clear, crisp, and sold in commercials full of snow, sweaters and mountain air, as though a soft drink could stand in for a ski holiday. Four years later the mountain air was the only part that survived.
🧾 One more thingThe pitchman was Patrick Wayne, John Wayne's son, cast as a kind of outdoorsman ideal to sell apple soda to adults who had aged out of cola. PepsiCo shelved Aspen in 1982 and folded the idea into its new Slice line two years later, where apple became merely a flavor rather than an entire personality.
