1961 – 2012 IT CAME BACK

Back — Suzy Q's returned in September 2025 after a five-year absence, the newest turn in a cycle of bankruptcies, reformulations and revivals running all the way back to 2012. History suggests eating them promptly.

Two slabs of devil's food cake cemented together with cream, sold since 1961 and famous for oozing filling onto the wrapper before you got it out of the package. It has now died and returned so often that the faithful treat every sighting as provisional.

🧾 One more thingWhen Hostess collapsed in 2012 the Suzy Q went down with the company, returning in 2016 noticeably slimmer — less cream, sleeker shape — which fans took badly enough that Hostess restored the original build in 2018. It was discontinued again in late 2020, then brought back once more in September 2025.
