2007 – 2007 GONE FOREVER

Gone, at least by name. It went national in May 2007 and Frito-Lay pulled it when the sweepstakes ended that July. A cheeseburger Doritos later turned up under the Late Night banner, but X-13D itself never came back.

A Doritos flavor sold in a plain black bag with no name on it, and the customers were asked to name it. Most guessed cheeseburger. Six weeks later it was off the shelves, exactly as planned.

🧾 One more thingMore than 150,000 people played and sent in over 43,000 names, and it sold about three times as well as a typical limited edition. A Frito-Lay manager said his favorite suggestion was 'Big Mac Attack.'
